The researcher Jaime Arturo Del Río Monges records the lack of investment as the direct cause of the low level of production and use of renewable energy to generate electricity in Mexico.

However, it indicates that it is from the energy reform that measures were included to facilitate and encourage the participation of private initiative in different links of the chain, as well as in the production of electricity from renewable sources.

A necessary condition to eliminate this dependence is to increase public, private and mixed investment in the sector.

To meet the goal of generating at least 35% of electricity through renewable energy by 2024, the proportion of generation from these sources should be four times higher during the period 2018-2024.

The researcher points out that not only must we continue with the promotion of renewable energies such as wind, solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and biomass exploitation, but could also venture into the generation of electricity from ocean energy, through the use of marine currents in the country.
