A 46-megawatt (MW) biomass power plant under development by Ence Energía y Celulosa S.A. in Huelva, Spain, has begun the final testing phase of its equipment. Commercial startup is expected later this year.

The company noted the project recently hit an important milestone when the line and the main transformer that joins the new installation to the high voltage park were energized in order to connect the plant to the region’s electrical network.

According to information released by Ence, provisional commissioning is underway to test all the facility’s new equipment, including the biomass boiler and steam turbine. This final testing stage will also address auxiliary facilities, such as compressed air systems, cooling towers and electrical and instrumentation systems.
