DR. JORGE ARTURO ABURTO ANELL
Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP)

With a degree in food chemistry from National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a Ph.D. from the National Polytechnic Institute in Toulouse, France, Jorge Arturo Aburto Anell was a visiting researcher at the Abrobiotechnology Institute (IFA-Tulln) at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, Austria.

Aburto Anell has been a chemistry researcher at the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) since 2000, where he currently leads the project on Biomass Management and Transformation. His main research areas include bioproducts for the oil industry, the deconstruction and conversion of biomass, lignocellulosic ethanol production, enzyme kinetics, oil biorefining, asphaltene precipitation inhibitors, and oil transportation via oil in water emulsions (O/W).
